The city has decided to trim their trees along the Boardwalk. This controversial topic has been around for sometime, but the city announced that it would be more acceptable to residents having a ‘view corridor’ and have therefore decided that a tree-trimming was in order. The ‘view’ has been a contentious note in the trimming debate, namely due to some city councillors do not think a persons view has any jurisdiction over city plans to put plants or other obstructions in front of your condo or house.

For many, the view is the reason they move to the Quay and the reason they pay extra 15% surcharge according to Assessments BC. Therefore, home owners in the Quay are adamant that the view be maintained.

The city determined that trimming, rather then leaving or removing, the trees in question was the best measure. Trimming started April 24 and could continue through to mid May. They will work between 7:30am and 4:00pm.
