Each year at holiday time, the QCB extends an invitation to all residents and strata complexes to decorate their spaces with seasonal themes to create the largest ‘Candy Cane Lane’ in New Westminster.

Once again the QCB extends our thanks to our print sponsors The New West Record. Without their generous support the QCB would reach fewer residents thus affecting the number of participants and lights. This year the QCB received two fifth page, full colour ads. We would specifically like to thank LARA GRAHAM for providing this sponsorship.

We also take this opportunity to congratulate Lara on her recent promotion to Publisher of the New West Record.

Basa & Plaza 88 Crane Lights

Unique to this year’s LUTQ was the addition of lights high in the sky. Along with all the beautiful lights on balconies and lobbies, Bosa Properties with their two cranes and Plaza 88 with its one crane contributed to the initiative by lighting up the night sky with blue and white lights.

While there may have been a few less lights than years past [more likely thanks to the snow and bitter cold] the final display of lights put on by fellow neighbours was a delight to the eyes for those brave enough to go out into the wintry elements to look at the Quay’s Candy Cane Lane.

QCB Food Drive

Each of the 18 buildings in the Quayside community participated in the annual QCB FOOD DRIVE. This year we are proud to announce that more non perishable food items were collected and dispersed to local charities than in past years. Many buildings filled up their over-sized boxes several times throughout the season, making several trips on snow and ice to get these contents to charities in time for Christmas. The QCB would like to extend our deepest thanks for participating in this critically important annual Food Drive. The QCB would also like to thank the strata volunteers for monitoring the boxes, emptying them and taking the contents to those in need. That is truly the holiday spirit in action!

Here is wishing you and yours the best in 2017!

We recognize and respect that New Westminster is on the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Halkomelem-speaking peoples. We acknowledge that colonialism has made invisible their histories and connections to the land.
