CITY | Pier Park New Equipment

The unexpected vandalism and resulting removal of the former toddler play structure in Westminster Pier Park presented an opportunity for public input to better understand community needs in an area of the city that is undergoing significant change.

The online survey that was conducted from July 27 through August 16, 2021 received 259 submissions. Responses indicated a clear majority preference for age-targeted toddler play equipment (replacement with something similar to the previous structure).

We recognize and respect that New Westminster is on the unceded and unsurrendered land of the Halkomelem-speaking peoples. We acknowledge that colonialism has made invisible their histories and connections to the land.
