“I live near CN’s Lulu Island Yard, and have done so for 30+ years.

My question: Is CN idling its engines year-round there now as they have started to do this year here? The Smartstart system no longer shuts off engines when not in use during warmer weather. It is now the worst it has ever been, with CN now leaving its locomotives on an apparently preferred fast idle for up to 15 hours a day this summer, with the introduction of summer idling with locomotives that are apparently never to be shut off.

I have Transport Canada, The Canadian Transportation Agency now involved again as CN has been utterly uncooperative.

Are you experiencing similar issues in your community?

“The Trains are quieter than Skytrain is except when they start making up trains. We have been here about 3 years and if I did not hear the trains making noise I would not be able to fall asleep, if no noise I would miss them.”[/cs_text][x_custom_headline level=”h5″ accent=”false” class=”cs-ta-center”]Have an opinion on rail noise
