SFD US Coal terminal back in court – where was New West?

Federal Court to render decision

In early November 2018 Ecojustice lawyers were in federal appeal court over the battle to stop a US thermal coal port facility planned for Surrey Fraser Docks – directly across from the Quay and our neighbours Queensborough.  In February of 2017, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority approved the proposal for a deep-ship port for US coal and the battle has been going on ever since.

It appears that there is only one shoreline battling to keep coal out of the Fraser River – Surrey.  Ecojustice lawyers acting on behalf of Surrey-based ‘Communities and Coal’, plus lawyers for the proposal presented two-hours of arguments during a Federal Court of Appeal – to a packed courtroom of concerned citizens.
